A pleasant hike through red rock boulders, reminding one of Garden of the Gods. The path cuts through flat terrain in the valley, including some marshy areas. Then the trail climbs as it goes around the ridge and returns to the visitor center. Be sure to follow the side trail to Lyons Overlook. The view is absolutely worth the climb. When we walked, there were fields of lupine and penstemon, as well as many other flowers. It has been a wet spring, and flowers bloomed this year that are not always seen.
