Wildflowers found on this hike

Pine growing in rocks

Castlewood Canyon State Park recently opened this new hiking trail on the other side of the highway from the rest of the park. The trail follows the rim of the canyon for a distance before descending into the canyon where it becomes broad and shallow. The trail proceeds out into the grasslands before looping back to the rim. April is early for wildflowers, there was still snow in the shade, but there are a few flowers that are rare any other time.
